This past Saturday afternoon, Jordan and I headed down to Waco to help celebrate Mabry's 4th birthday.
The party invite went a little something like this..."Pizza, Magic and More! Mabry is turing Four!!!".
I really hope as a mom I can have as good a pulse as my sister does on just what my kiddos will actually want (and not what the Mom wants or thinks will look the cutest) for their party. Not that it has to be over the top or crazy elaborate, but most importantly something your child will enjoy and something that won't stess me out preparing so much, that I don't even have a chance to stop and enjoy the moment(s).
Ash was dead-on for what Miss M loves.
It was at her favorite little pizza joint. They had a clown (Buster was her name and she was perfect and oh-so-age-appropriate) who not only was a clown, but also did magic and crazy balloon blow-up thingys. All of Mabry's little friends really seemed to love her.
I know it sounds sappy, but I just love days like Saturday. The kind of day that forces you to take time out and stop, amidst Christmas decorating, shopping, gift wrapping, parties, etc...and watch kiddos simply enjoy themselves. It was actually really refreshing.
Below are some pics from the day. It is hard to believe this little lady is 4! Well, if the truth be told, she's more like 4 going on 14 :).
I love you Mabry Liz!

Green and Gold at the Silver Star!
This past weekend the Baylor Bears headed North to take on the Texas Tech Red Raiders in Arlington at...drumroll please...Cowboys Stadium!
Many, many months ago my Dad got our whole crew some suuhhweet tickets sitting together to cheer on the Baylor Bears. It was SUCH a fun time!
Jordan and I had been to the stadium once before for a Cowboys game, but this time it was SO neat to see the stadium packed full of Green, Gold, Red and Black.
We played well and for a while there I thought we were gonna run away with a "W". But, sadly, in the end, Tech prevailed.
Regardless of the outcome it was still such a fun time with Mom, Dad, Ash, Scott, Reg, Brooke and Jordan.
Thanks Daddy for a wonderful day!!!! And no matter what...Sic'em Bears!!!!

Have you ever...
...procrastinated blogging because you'd let too much time and too many events pass by that you just didn't know where to begin or how to briefly recap?
Well, that's where I find myself...sighhhh.
Okay, so after the Project Runway post (see below), Jordan and I left on an amazing trip to Barbados where we cruised to St. Barths, Antigua, St. Lucia, Grenada and Bequia (near St. Moritz). It was 10 wonderful days of R & R...much needed amidst selling (and PACKING) the house, construction of our new casa, the stress of work, and family illness.
Sadly, while we were away, we lost an incredible man in our lives. A man who has greatly shaped Jordan's being and the man he is today, from his values, work ethic, character...you name it... Jordan's grandfather, aka Papa, was truly a class act. Not to diminish his passing or skip over it, but rather to preserve Jordan's privacy I won't go into much more detail. But, be sure, he is most certainly missed, though undoubtedly smiling down on us from Above. We love you and miss you dearly, Papa.
Upon our return to reality we had a little over a week to pack up the house. Oh, don't you worry, it took us every single bit of the 10 days we had to get that dern house moved. Oh.My.Word. We had a wholotta stuff! Most of all though, we PRAISE God that our house sold! It was hours of packing and loading (ahem, Jordan did the actual loading), but we kept reminding ourselves that it was a means to an end.
Wondering where we went from our sweet, 1st home that we've come to know and love for 5+ years??? Well, just to add a little more crazy to the mix, our new home is still not finished and probably lacks 4-6 weeks more of work. Soooo, for the time being, we have put all of our things in storage and are living with Jordan's parents.
I am not sure who is making the bigger adjustment here? Jordan's parents, who have had no children in their house and are used to coming and going uninterrupted for quite some time? Or, Jordan and I who just went from a 4 bedroom home to a 1 bedroom "hotel" with a dog. It is a pretty dern great hotel, though. The kitchen and t.v are waaay better and the cleaning crew doesn't kick out in the mornings. He, he!!
All in all, we survived the month of Novemeber.
Now it's December (yikes!!) and time to embrace the quickly approaching Holiday. With deep breaths, lots of lists and jolly tunes on the radio I think I should make it through with a smile on my face and the Christmas spririt in my heart.
Next post promises to have pics...

Make it Work!
So, she was my stand-out fav from the beginning...
My predicition for this season's winner of Project Runway is, in the words of Tim Gunn, "the lovely Carol Hannah!"
Perhaps I am choosing her because I can imagine myself or any "normal" human being actually donning her clothes.
Or perhaps it's the Southern lady in her that I like.
Or perhaps it's her penchant for dark eyeliner, ehh never mind, scratch that. Who am I kidding. Tame that stuff down, Missy!
I am curious. Does anyone else have a fav for this season's Project Runway?!?! Do share!!!

Q: How did you spend your Halloween?!?
A: In a house of organized chaos.
Yep, we are packing! AHHHHHH! I think this might drive me insane! But, the task must be complete. So onward I go...
Wish us luck in getting it all done in time.
Pics below of "progress" so far. It sure felt like we got more done.
On the agenda for today: Kitchen cabinets and hutch/china cabinet (cue the screams!).

When You Wish Upon a Star...
This past week Jordo and I headed to the The Happiest Place on Earth...Disney World!
We had a great, great time!
Jordan and his family had work stuff in Orlando, so we decided to make a family affair of it and head out early to take in the parks and have some fun. And fun we had!
I supposed I was enjoying myself so much that I failed miserably at documenting the trip with photos. I took 3 pics. Terrible, I know!
It had been 13 years since I'd been to Disney, so this time it was like seeing things with an new set of eyes. I loved being there with our neice and nephews and getting to watch their faces as they, too, took in everything. The two eldest, Peyton and Laurel, had been before, but at younger ages where their memories were...ahem...non-existent. So, needless to say, all 3 of them were loving the semi-newness of every park, every ride, every show.
We did Animal Kingdom and Epcot the first day. Whew! I mean, I can run long distances with the best of them, but man, oh, man, that walking just about killed me! Glad I went for comfort over fashion donning my running shoes the whole time. I don't know if I would have made it otherwies :).
The following day was spent at Hollywood Studios (previously known as MGM Studios). It was SO much fun! The Rockin' Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror were my kinda rides!
We visited The Magic Kingdom the following day. No matter how old I get, this Park with always be my favorite. I love the nostalgia of it all. It's a Small World, The Teacups, etc... One slight glitch though, Space Mountain was CLOSED for repairts, much to our dismay, sadness, devistation, disappointment. Okay, okay, I know, you get the picture, but man, were we bummed! We DID however, manage to ride Thunder Mountain Railroad time and again. It's an oldie but a goodie, for sure!
Afer some repeat park visits the rest of the time, the last day we headed to Downtown Disney. That place is great for adults (Pleasure Island) and kids. They have a Lego store to.die.for. Every kind of Lego and accessory you can imagine. And this place called the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique (cue Cinderella song) where girls can go get hair and makeup done up and put on Princess clothes! The restaurants in Downtown Disney are yum, yum, yum, too! No cafeteria lines, chicken nuggets or fries here folks. It was a welcome change :).
All in all, we had a great time, lucked out on the weather (it was super hot but no rain) and were met with minial crowds at each park.
Jordan and I were both talking about how much fun it will be to go back with our own kiddos someday!
M-I-C- see ya real soon! K-E-Y- why? because we like you! M-O-U-S-E...

Fredericksburg + Friends = FUN!
This past weekend, amidst the excitement of Miles' birth, Jordan and I headed down to Fredericksburg with our good friends Darin, Kami, Bobby and Kristen. The occassion for this top-10 weekend getaway was the boys' pledge brutha and friend, Derek's marriage to his sweet fiance, Sharman.
I honestly cannot recall a time that I have laughed so much. I guess it's a sign that we have all been pretty stressed, burned out at work, exhausted, etc...you name it, because as soon as we all arrived, we were geared up for a fun, laid back weekend escape.
Kami booked an uber-cool cabin for the 6 of us. It was on this ranch, basically out in the middle of nowhere (but a convenient 10 minute drive from town). Literally within 5 minutes of arriving, we had made ourselves at home, donned our comfy sweats and were on our way to enjoying ourselves. The TV did not even get turned on the entire time we were there. With boys and college football season, that's pretty impressive. Can you say Sports Center withdrawl?
After staying up waaay too late Friday night, we all groggily awoke Saturday for one of the most gorgeous fall days, to be spent in the Texas Hill Country. The boys headed straight into town to find a Biergarten to watch the TX-OU game. As for the ladies, we had shopping on the brain. I'm pretty sure everyone was a happy camper given the day's itinerary :).
Saturday night was the wedding. It took place at the bride's uncle's ranch, which sits atop an amazing mountain'ish ridge. I kid you not, it was absolutely perfect! The weather was zero humidity and in the mid 70's, the views spectacular, the decor perfectly ranch chic, the food deelish (they had a mac n' cheese bar), and the band was rockin'. Not a single detail was overlooked.
We all had the best time! We even convinced our boys to strut their stuff out on the dance floor, which, if you even slightly know Jordan, Darin or Bobby, this was a HUGE fete! A big shout out to Mike Marshall for getting the dance party started and showing the boys that the dance floor didn't bite :). The wives totally owe and thank you!
What is better than a weekend getaway that includes some of your closest friends, a beautiful country setting, fantastic shopping (read: window shopping) and so many laughing fits that you're left with sore abs?
I can't wait for the next trip!

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens...
...Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things!
Ahem...let's fast forward to 2009, shall we. See ya Sound of Music!
How 'bout a little alliteration for a nice Wednesday evening, huh folks?!?!
I have a few favorite things this time of year.
September - this month rings in the official beginning of fall.
Sleeves - short or long it makes no difference to me. Anything is an improvement from sleeveless and/or sweat-hiding work attire (i.e. black matte jersey dresses, black capris and more black, black, black)
Soup - white chicken chili, homemade chicken noodle, any kinda chowder.
Season change - crisper mornings, some days that aren't in the 90's.
Sports - any and all college football (Sic'em) as well as the Cowboys.
Sweats -busting out the velour track-suit again! (sorry husband, i know how much you truly despise it, but it's simply a must)
Is anyone else out there as glad to see September arrive and honestly, nearly be gone? I cannot believe it is already September 23rd. I seriously felt like we just had Labor Day weekend. Sheesh!
I love this time of year and am relishing in this week's cold front. Do any of you gals have favorite things?!?!?
